About Us
Burning Man is an annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. The event takes its name from the ritual burning of a large wooden effigy. Burning Man is described by many as an experiment in community, radical self-expression, and radical self-reliance. In 2008, 49,599 people participated in Burning Man – thousands of which formed the gay camps and villages we will be exploring in a documentary titled, Boys of Burning Man.
In August 2010, two young artists will venture to the Nevada Black Rock Desert to produce a documentary about the gay experience at Burning Man. Boys of Burning Man will be an experiment in capturing the radical self-expression of the gay community during the week long festival. While there are several documentaries about Burning Man as a whole, there is nothing that captures what goes on in these gay camps. We will become one with the camps and explore from within the sub-culture of the Burning Man GLBTQ community to show an intimate (and controversial) depiction of the activities, parties, characters, music, art and whatever else our cameras capture.
